Turn-Stiles and Turn-Around Smiles by Laura Kestrel

Turn-Stiles and Turn-Around Smiles is a journey. Its predecessor, Lambs with Manes of Lions, dealt with the confessional; the personal and the internal world, whereas Turn-Stiles will take you on a rollercoaster of metaphysics. A social commentary in places, while in others an exploration of the greater world through the lens of the individual. Turn-Stiles and Turn-Around Smiles aims to uncover the world around us, and then question where it’s going next, where we’re going next. It is split into three over-arching themes prevalent to living as we know it: Stiles, Spiles and Smiles. One represents the challenges that inevitably may be encountered along the journey of life; one discusses the consciences raised in the process of understanding the patchwork in which we are but a mere thread, while the final reaches conclusions, and comes to terms with that which has passed before. Then, you will find the Epilogue; a short collection of poems whose content, in some way or another, had a particular effect on me during theprocess of writing this collection. Turn-Stiles and Turn-Around Smiles is therefore more than just a journey. It is both a journey and a destination, and one which I look forward to sharing with you.
