It’s a little quiet over here on the Whisky & Beards webpage isn’t it? Updates tend to come only when we have a new book to show you. I try to keep thing relevant because I think if you’re coming here, that’s exactly the content you’re looking for. If you want banter, humour and the occasional bit of writing, you could head over to my personal website and enjoy that kind of thing.
There is another website you should follow though, if you’re a poet working in England or even just a fan of poetry. NeanderthalBard.co.uk
Neanderthal Bard is run by Whisky & Beards alum, Stefan Gambrell, as a resource to gather all the different events a poet could be interested in and present them in one place.
Stefan has always had looked out for the local poetry scene in Thanet. It was actually him who first created the Thanet Poetry Posse group that we use to socialise, share jokes and promote our projects. These days, Stefan can often be found behind the scenes of his own poetry nights in Margate, at Olby’s Soul Cafe and the Turner Contemporary or with a microphone in hand as he shares his poetry with audiences.
NeanderthalBard.co.uk brings together dozens of poetry events every week in one place, saving us poets the time of hunting down our next chance to step on stage. Hosts and promoters can add their events to the planner for free and get the word out to the widest audience, without having to spend money better put towards securing more excellent talent.
To sweeten the deal, there’s even a store where you can buy merchandise to support the site and represent the Bard at your next event, as well as a blog coming in the near future so we can all follow his journey through the world of poetry.
